2018年にAdrian Biancoによって東京で創刊されたインディペンデント・マガジン『sabukaru』は、今日に至るまでファッション、アート、音楽、そしてサブカルチャーを歴史的に牽引する国内の人々や現象など、あらゆる文化に着目し”伝えること”に尽力してきました。現在では、海外から”今”の日本を知るための最も強力なプラットフォームとして認知されています。
長年にわたり数え切れないほどのショーを開催し、Thaiboy Digital、Nettspend & xaviersobased、Effieといった国際的なアーティストを日本の観客に紹介すると同時に、N2やkegonといった国内の才能を後押ししてきた彼らが、ついにO-EASTへとそのステージを広げます。
10月30日、sabukaruは現代の音楽〜カルチャーシーンにおける重要なアーティストたちを招いてイベントを開催します。ラッパー名義のRooster名義でも知られ、Yung LeanやBladeeなどのプロデュースを通じて現代のサウンドを定義づけたGud、そしてLAビートシーンのスターチャイルドであるSHLOHMOの二人が来日します。日本からは、破壊的なサウンドと世界観で国内外からのラブコールが止まないVMOのダークスローンとゴルゴロスがDJセットで登場するほか（VMOにとっては6ヶ月ぶりの日本国内での公演となる）、姉妹デュオのTamanaramen、実験的なサウンドを追求するvqやeijinといった新進気鋭のアーティストたちも加わり、ハロウィーンの夜を彩ります。
また、この特別な夜を記念し、ニューヨーク育ちのハードコア/ガバプロデューサーであり、ラッパーxaviersobasedの実兄でもあるNurseが、本イベントのために2つのオリジナルグラフィックを制作しました。数量限定で発売されるTシャツ(¥5,000)とフーディ(¥8,000)は、sabukaruとMIDNIGHT EASTによる初のコラボレーション商品となります。
Since launched in Tokyo in 2018 by Adrian Bianco, the independent magazine sabukaru has, to this day, been dedicated to ‘sharing’ all aspects of culture, focusing on the people and phenomena within Japan that have historically driven fashion, art, music and subculture. It is now recognised internationally as the most powerful platform for understanding ‘contemporary’ Japan.
Having organised countless shows over the years, introducing international artists such as Thaiboy Digital, Nettspend & xaviersobased and Effie to Japanese audiences whilst simultaneously supporting domestic talents such as N2 and kegon, they are finally expanding their stage to O-EAST.
On 30th October, sabukaru will host an event featuring key artists from the contemporary music and culture scene. Gud (also known for his rapper alias Rooster), who has defined the modern sound through his productions for artists such as Yung Lean and Bladee, and SHLOHMO, the star child of the LA beat scene, will both be making their Japan debuts. Joining them, Darkthrone and Gorgoroth, members of VMO—whose extreme sound and aesthetic continue to garner acclaim both at home and abroad—will perform a DJ set (it will be their first gig in Japan in 6 months), as well as the sister duo Tamanaramen, up-and-coming artists such as vq and eijin, who pursue experimental sounds, to bring the Halloween night to life.
To commemorate this special evening, Nurse—a New York-raised hardcore/gabber producer and the brother of xaviersobased—has created two original graphics exclusively for this event. T-shirts (¥5,000) and hoodies (¥8,000), available in limited quantities, mark the first collaboration between sabukaru and MIDNIGHT EAST.
