Formed last year, this is a trio in which I play piano, with Takashi Sugawa on bass and Shu Akimoto on drums as the rhythm section, performing classic free jazz. Free jazz has a punk-like aspect to it—it simply wouldn’t work without someone who is a complete novice on their instrument.
