Industrial / Gothic Solo Project from Japan
Godfrost is a Tokyo-based industrial/gothic solo project led by Japanese guitarist, composer, and producer Frost, formerly a founding member of Gods of Decay.
Before launching Godfrost, Frost gained attention through Gods of Decay and its gothic-horror music video “Nightmare,” which became a notable topic within the Japanese dark and alternative music scene. In 2021, Gods of Decay signed with an international record label, achieving No. 1 on the Japanese iTunes Metal Music Video Chart and a Top 5 position on the Japanese iTunes Metal Albums Chart.
In 2023, Frost launched Godfrost as a new project, developing a distinctive sound that combines industrial metal, electronic programming, heavy guitars, beautiful melodies, and dark gothic atmospheres.
Godfrost released its debut album in 2024. The album reached No. 3 on the Japanese iTunes Metal Albums Chart and received international attention, including coverage from ReGen Magazine.
Rather than being limited to a single genre, Godfrost continues to explore the space between industrial, gothic, and metal, combining aggressive guitar-driven sounds with atmospheric, melodic, and electronic elements.
Godfrost features American vocalist Luna Midnight and Japanese vocalist Sara. Each vocalist brings her own distinct personality and character to the music. Their contrasting voices and stage presence add a powerful and theatrical dimension to Godfrost’s music and live performances.
On September 18, 2026, Godfrost released the new EP “Hanging Doll” worldwide through U.S. label Brutal Records. The EP features Luna Midnight and Sara on vocals and was produced and mixed by Lee Popa, known for his work with artists including Ministry, KMFDM, Killing Joke, Tool, and Korn.
Following its release, “Hanging Doll” reached No. 2 on the Japanese iTunes Metal Albums Chart, surpassing the No. 3 position achieved by Godfrost’s debut album.
Frost is also an established guitarist with multiple endorsement partnerships and is active as a late-night radio DJ in Japan. He also organizes Darkness Phobia, a successful event series centered around dark and gothic music and culture, further expanding his presence within Japan’s dark, alternative, and heavy music scene.
